PPA212 Sketch Challenge

PPA212 card sketch

This week is the annual Stampin’ Up! convention.  Quite a few of my friends and colleagues are in attendance.  There over 4,000 demonstrators learning about new products, sharing business ideas and enjoying what they love the most…Creating!!!

I have been been able to watch general session Live the past 2 days and I can’t wait to order from the new Holiday Catalog. All the convention attendees received their catalog yesterday…so jealous. But I was able to see some of the new products and I can’t until August 1st to place my pre-order. Woop, woop!!!

While I’m missing convention this year, I decided to create a card using the PPA212 Sketch Challenge.  I really love starting with a sketch to get my creative juices flowing.  You can go the Pals Paper Arts website and see this week’s creative designers cards.  They would love for you to play along.

PPA212 Sketch Challenge

With the new catalog comes new designer paper.  Black and  white patterns are big right now.  I love the simplicity of just using two colors and the abstract designs this designer paper series has to offer.  I had already colored in my flowers with cherry cobbler blendibilities.  I LOVE the new blendibilities markers.  The more that I play with them, the more confident I get in my shading ability.  I have been watching youtube videos from other demonstrators on how to color using the markers.  It is really a matter of choice…I have decided that I like using the darkest marker first and then shading in with the lightest.  What is even more fun is coloring in the BLING!!!!  The markers are great for coloring in rhinestones, pearls, buttons…you name it!!!!

I hope that you enjoyed the card….I love to see all your comments so please let me know what you think!  Enjoy!!!

Happy Birthday USA!!!

A Special Birthday Card

Today is a special day in our household….it’s my husband’s birthday.  He is modest and doesn’t really want a lot of fanfare but I of course love to dote on him.  I had made him a Valentine’s Day card that was done as a card in a box and wanted to make him a Birthday card in a box.  These cards are very popular right now and Pinterest has a ton of pictures of them. card in a box birthday I couldn’t wait to get my hands on the new DSP (designer series paper) offered in the catalog.  I love being able to pull out lots of the colors that are used in the paper.  This paper is from the Park Lane series.  The card base is soft suede…I wanted it a little masculine (haha).  The stamp set is Sketched Birthday…hard to believe I’ve never really used this set.  I love the pen drawing images since I love to watercolor.  I stamped the images on whisper white card stock with StazOn black ink and used my aqua painter (FAVORITE!!!) and calypso coral, blackberry bliss, daffodil delight and soft suede inks to color them in.  The balloons were cut out and adhered to the box with glue dots.  Here is another view… IMG_3264 There are so many ways to decorate a card in a box…I just love using Pinterest as my inspiration!!!  You can follow me on Pinterest by clicking on the icon on the left side of the blog.

Love seeing what I make and want to join in the fun?  It’s easy and this great deal ends today!!!  You can join the Stampin’ UP! family for just $50.  Take it out for a test drive…no penalties to drop and you get to keep all the goodies that you pick in your starter kit.  You can go to my SU! website for all the details and you can also join there!!!

Playing with PPA209 Sketch Challenge

PPA209 Sketch Challenge

Every once in a while I need to get my creative juices going. A great beginning point is starting with a card sketch. I find lots of inspiration on Pinterest and have a board for card sketches. You can follow me by clicking on the Pinterest icon at the end of this post. I also like following the Pals Paper Arts group…they have sketch challenges every week.  I like the simplicity of this sketch.  I find that I can make the card the way I want to with just a footprint.

The beautiful bunch stamp set is one on my top ten products from the new catalog… want to know why?  It has a matching punch!!!!  I am a sucker for stamps that match our punches.

Another item in the top ten are the new paper packs.  All Abloom pack incorporates 8 colors which gives you a lot of options to pick from   I started with a pistachio pudding base.  Cut it at 4 1/4 along the 8 1/2 inch side.  The card layer is daffodil delight (4 x 5 1/4) stamped with a flower image from the beautiful bunch stamp set in daffodil delight.  I did not want to leave the base “flat” so ran it through the new texture boutique machine using the new Large Polka Dot TIEF (Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.  This machine is a great tool for those who just want to use the embossing folders.  It’s cheaper, versatile and portable.

Tags are big right now and it’s super easy to make them using the Scalloped Tag Topper Punch.  I rounded the corners of the tag with the envelope maker (a definite must!)  Two strips from the paper pack were adhered to the tag and then a piece of Lost Lagoon 3/8″ Stitched Satin Ribbon was used for the top.  I tied it on with a little piece of linen thread.

STARTING JULY 1ST….customers can FINALLY order the Blendibilities Markers!!!!  I just love, love, love them!!! If you know or have used copic markers before then you will love these.  They are alcohol in markers that come in several color assortments.  They come in packs of 3 shades (light, medium and dark) and you use them with the Memento Ink Pad.  I like the fact that you can stamp and color on whisper white card stock.  Here is a close up of the flower using the coastal cabana blendibilities….

I have been looking at videos made by other demonstrators showing their take on the coloring/shading process.  The best one by far is by Mary Fish.  She gives 7 simple tips  on how to use the markers.  Practice makes perfect and I will continue practicing but I really like the outcome.  Enjoy!!!

Welcome New Caddy!!

New Catalog CardsIt’s hard to believe it has almost been a month since my last post.  Where has the time gone?  Having two teens in the house can be hectic… just driving and the other playing travel baseball every weekend. I finally had time to hold a class this past week and was able to show off some of the new products I ordered from the new catalog. I have loved seeing cards made with the Work of Art stamp set. The brushstrokes are wonderful and it is really easy to make cards with it.

Work of Art
The layout of this card is different from the usual standard card. I cut a piece of 81/2 x 11 card stock in Sahara sand  and cut it to 41/2 x 11.  I folded the card stock in half and then folded one side of the card in half to give the flap fold.  My new favorite in color is blackberry bliss and I really wanted to highlight the color. I used a 2 1/2 x 4 piece of DSP from the moonlight paper pack.  The deco label framelits are a great addition to add the sentiment.  I stamped one of the brushstrokes from the set in hello honey (another new in color fave of mine) on the white label piece twice before I stamped the sentiment in blackberry bliss.

I would like to welcome two new demonstrators to my team….Kathie Viall and Jean McCurry. They have been customers of mine for some time and have been awesome paper crafters from the start.  They fell in love with Stampin’ Up! and wanted to be part of the family.   Welcome ladies!

Mojo Monday Sketch and Sneak Peek

I have been scarce lately… gets in the way but I’m definitely getting my “mojo” back. I was able to order some of the new products from the upcoming catalog and had some time to play. I saw this week’s Mojo Monday sketch and wanted to play along.

Mojo Monday 346

The new Work of Art stamp set has been very popular among other demonstrators and I decided to try my luck at this stamp set.  This set is perfect for the beginner stamper…very forgiving. You cannot mess up with this set!   The brushstroke images are genius and I love the sayings.

I am loving the new in colors SU! has designed for the next 2 years…..mossy meadow, tangelo twist, hello honey, blackberry bliss and lost lagoon. I can definitely see myself wrapped in these colors on a deserted island. The designer paper is called Moonlight.  It comes in 12×12 and paper pack.

Mojo Monday 346

The hearts were punched out from the new heart punch that comes in the Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack.

Don’t forget to make an insert for the inside do the card. You can glue it down or leave it loose so the recipient can use the card again to send to someone else….share it forward!!! Enjoy!

My Paper Pumpkin – Framed Love

April My Paper Pumpkin

Stampin’ UP! keeps getting more exciting every time I open my mailbox!!  When My Paper Pumpkin started a year a go, I was a little skeptical.  I love the idea of getting a craft in the mail for me to create….the cards are easy, great instructions and lots of extras….BUT….I thought the cards were a little boring.  A lot of the demonstrators had the same feeling and SU! went back and revamped the whole concept and now I’m SOLD!!!  February and March’s kits were ADORABLE and I had heard just wait for April’s…well here it is.   I couldn’t wait to open the orange box and get my hands on the “Framed Love”.  The picture above shows you everything that comes in the kit and the end product.  I really wanted to add some of the flowers I had made a while ago and this is what I came up with…

Framed Love My Paper Pumpkin

I was so pleased the way the frame came out.  I followed the directions that came with the kit and then added the paper flowers made with the die.  Here is a closeup of the flowers ….Didn’t they turn out awesome?   You can see the tags in the above picture that can be created with the photopolymer stamps.  I did add the background stamps (the flowers).   The tags can be given as a gift or you can include them with the frame.  You can wrap it all up with the box and ribbon to make it the perfect Mother’s Day gift.

If you would like to join me in my excitement every month go and check out My Paper Pumpkin and get set up.  You can sign up for every month or 3 or 6 months.  You can cancel anytime without any penalty.  It’s so worth it~

On Monday, April 28th, demonstrators across the country were able to see the unveiling of the new catalog…..Inspire, Create, Share 2014.   Many demonstrators went to movie theaters to get the new catalog and share in a LIVE unveiling that was held in Long Beach, CA.  From what I have heard and seen….it’s the best one yet!!!!

Easter favors for the table for Easter dinner

Happy Easter everyone!!! We a joyous day despite the weather….morning service outside, Easter basket and egg hunt and a little bocci ball.
Everytime I am with my family, I always like to make a little favor for the table.
